Suddenly being faced with a mass of gorgeous curls is amazing, but if you don’t have experience with textured hair, it can quickly become daunting. With so many products, tools and opposing bits of advice out there, deciding which is the best to follow can be mind-blowing.
Established as a Textured Hairdresser, The Muse Salon owner, Erica’s journey began in 1995 crafting kinky, coily, curly and wavy hair. Never one to take the easy route, Erica endeavoured to be a trailblazer in Northamptonshire, and continued to progress into the Education sector within an Academy, teaching for 7 years.
I am extremely passionate about my craft as qualified afro hairdressers are very much a rarity. A “MUSE” is a person, particularly a woman who is a source of inspiration for a creative artist.
Erica is a firm believer in helping others wherever she can. Since 2011, Erica and her team have provided a professional and caring service to their service users with textured hair and at the UK’s largest Charitable Healthcare Provider. They also support foster carers and families who care for children of Black African/Caribbean and dual heritage.
“Our support makes a difference by enabling, not only the parent/carer to feel confident with maintaining the child’s hair, but also allows the child to embrace their hair and be proud of it as they mature into adulthood.” Erica Liburd-Hamilton, The Muse Salon Owner.
The Kids Curl Care Workshop is a FREE event, run by The Muse Salon at Sol Central, Northampton, which provides support for parents and carers of children with textured, coily and wavy hair types.
It’s a great opportunity to sit and discuss (with professionals as well as other carers and parents) how to care for the hair with the products, techniques and tools available.
It’s a wonderfully positive environment to learn about the different hair types, how the hair changes as children get older, and give confidence to those unsure of how to best coax those curls into whichever style your child prefers.
The event is free but space is limited so booking with the Salon is essential and it is one child per adult.
So, if you’re after advice on how to plait, coil, kink, curl, twist or just want to know how to keep it in tip top condition, this is the must go to event for you.
If you miss this one, don’t worry! The fabulous Muse Salon will be running the Kids Curl Care Workshops on the first Monday of every other month.
